Mayor Dreyfus (died 2026) was a former San Francisco police chief and a survivor of the Simian Flu outbreak that wiped out much of humanity. He became one of the first humans to encounter an Evolved Ape in the years since the outbreak began. Allowing Malcolm to attempt to work with Caesar and the other apes, unforeseen circumstances led to a battle between Dreyfus' human colony and Caesar's ape colony.
Malcolm and Caesar eventually attempted to stop the beginning of a war between the two species, but failed as Dreyfus had managed to call in the United States Armed Forces for assistance in the battle. Dreyfus sacrificed his own life in an explosion as an attempt to kill the apes and save the human race.
